Camp Pope Publishing is me, Clark Kenyon. I am a publishing services provider. I am not a commercial publisher and do not accept unsolicited manuscripts. But I am here to help you get your book into print by providing the services you need, from editing, design and layout, to complete printing and binding.
I have been editing, designing, and typesetting books since 1991 for my own company and for other organizations and individuals. The printing and binding part of the business I contract out to either offset or digital (Print on Demand) book manufacturers.
The Press of the Camp Pope Bookshop has always specialized in books on the Civil War, but I can provide services for any subject book you wish. The great advantage of using Camp Pope Publishing to publish your Civil War-related title is that I know the Civil War and the Civil War book market. I can give you realistic advice on the salability of your title, and, if you choose to have me edit your book, I can more easily check facts and correct the little errors and typos that other editors might miss.
I am no longer accepting books to publish as part of my catalog (Camp Pope Publishing). However, I can help you publish your book under your own name or under a fictitious trade name (your own publishing company). Note: you may have to register the name of your publishing business to be legal in your state. I can advise you on how to purchase an ISBN (or where you can get one for free). I can register your book with the US Copyright Office ($65 fee), Books-In-Print (free), and add a Library of Congress Control Number (PCN, also free; you’ll need to set up an account with them).
The nature of contract book publishing is that you pay all the costs. You then receive all copies of the book to sell or distribute as you please. You are the copyright holder and retain the rights to your book, and you set the retail price.
I can convert your book to eBook format for distribution via Kindle, iTunes, Nook, and other platforms.
The costs to you of evaluating, editing, typesetting, printing, and binding your book (and any other services you may require) will be clearly laid out in a non-exclusive, non-transferable contract before any of these costs are incurred. (Sample contract.)
If you require only a few hours of formatting or design work before you submit your book to a different publisher, I can quote you a price range via email. I'll send you a PDF or Word file of your book for approval, along with a statement. Then, once I have received your payment (check, money order, credit card, or PayPal), I will email you your print-ready PDFs.
Use the simple custom quote form to get started, or e-mail me for more information.
